ESHA FOUNDATION CHARTIABLE TRUST is non-profit organization which is striving towards the cause of reducing poverty by providing skill trainings to the poor. The organization basically works with women as it believes that women are the harbingers of change as demonstrated through self help movement across the country. It also believes that by providing appropriate skills, women can take up any livelihood activity and can help the families to fight poverty. In patriarchal society like India, women have fewer opportunity to go out and learn the skill required to practice a livelihood on their own. In this context, Esha Foundation Charitable Trust is offering skill training to women from disadvantaged sections of society and is helping Foundation sha them to take up income generation activities. As a part of its skill training programs, the charitable trust is organizing Tailoring Training Centers (Vocational) in the poorer areas across all state of India. Each training centre provides training to approximately 25 women who age akiz basically from the poorer sections. The Training is absolutely free and the trainees need not pay any amount at any point of time.

The Program

Identification of Trainees and Trainer: Initially the charitable trust identifies the villages in which it wants to establish a training centre. In each village it conducts a survey to identify the poor women who are interested to learn tailoring. Along with identification of trainees, a trainer (cutter) is also identified from among the same community who is having some prior training and experience in tailoring. The local trainer ensures the day-to-day management of the centre

Management of the centre: Once the trainees are identified, their bio-data are
collected to maintain a record. Other records like attendance register, salary register etc., are also maintained. It is the responsibility of the cutter to maintain the cords in the centre. The centre opens from Warn Spm every day in all the working days.

Charitable trust support to the centre: Apart from identifying the trainees and trainer and trainer, the charitable trust provided tailoring machines to each centre for the trainees to learn tailoring work. The monthly salary of the cutter is also provided by the organization.

Monitoring of the centre: Though the day to day management is done by the
cutter, The charitable trust representatives visit each and every centre once in a month to ensure the proper management and functioning of the centre.

Providing Certificates to the Trainees: The duration of this tailoring course is 3
months (Vocational). During this period the women undergo a rigorous training on the processes and methods that are involved in tailoring activity. After successful completion of this 3 months training and examination is conducted to test their progress. Based on the performance in the examination, the certificates are issued to the participants. Eshu Foundation

Providing Machines to poor women: After successfully completed the
Tailoring traimng. The women are able to take it up a livelihood activity and are earning good incomes. However, some women are not able to buy machines on their own and hence are not able to earn incomes though they are having the skill. Identifying this lacuna the charitable trust is providing machines to some women who are poor based on a through enquiry at free of cost which is helping them to generate better incomes for their families.

The Impact

The certificate provided by the organization helped some women to stand on their own and able to support their families with their incomes. As they are supporting family, their dignity within the household has increased and they treated with more respect by the family members
